House Blessing + {Real Food} Comfort Food Dinner

Yesterday Father came over to bless our home. We have rented here for three years and even though Ethan always does the Epiphany Blessing every January 6th, we had neglected to have to house officially blessed by a priest.

How do you like the pink slide in our living room? 😉 (Sorry for the dark photo, remember in my intro post that whole simple two bedroom duplex and an android phone thing?)

Father came and Philomena was very intrigued.

Afterwards we ate a homemade, comfort food dinner. It wasn’t fancy, but everyone had seconds or thirds so it was good enough!

Our humble table. I meant to get real beeswax taper candles for the occasion but I didn’t get them in time!

On the menu was pan fried pork loin, macaroni and cheese with bell peppers and peas (using Trader Joes gluten-free brown rice pasta), and broccoli with Kerrygold butter. We had Blue Fin Moscato to drink, (it’s cheap but amazing and, yes, also from Trader Joes), and finished off the meal with vanilla ice cream topped with two-ingredient chocolate sauce from the 100 Days of Real Food Fast and Fabulous Cookbook.

I’m so happy to have the house blessed, and to have enjoyed a wonderful evening with Father talking and laughing with our little family.

Have you had your home blessed?

  1. We have not had our home blessed but really should. We’ve lived here a little over a year and I think it’d be a great thing to let our 3 yr old see. Plus we’d love to have our ‘new to our parish’ Pastor over for a meal.
