Mediatrix Press is a small, family-run imprint dedicated to bringing good Catholic books back in print, as well as the translation of titles not seen before in English. All the proceeds from book sales go directly to supporting their young, growing family of 7. Their aim is not only to provide good books, but beautiful books as well. Mediatrix Press finds and reprints titles for Catholics today so as to nourish their faith, preserve many works from Tradition, and provide them to fellow Catholics for as low a price as possible.
They also specialize in new, never before seen in English translations of important works. Ryan Grant, President of Mediatrix Press, has translated over 1200 pages of St. Robert Bellarmine’s writings defending Catholic teaching on the Papacy, Councils, the Marks of the True Church and Purgatory, with many more to go. This effort is entirely funded by donations and book sales. (You can learn more about these projects here.)

Their newest book, Bible Stories for Children, is a wonderful collection of 57 stories from Sacred Scripture, full of beautiful illustrations throughout. It is a reprint of an old book, originally published in 1892.
I truly enjoyed reading through this lovely volume, and it goes through the Old and New Testaments quite thoroughly. So often children’s Bible books are meant for the very young, but this gem is well suited for about 3rd grade reading level and higher, giving bigger kids a wonderful compilation of stories from Sacred Scripture.
This would make a fantastic book for evening family prayer time, reading a story each night before bed all together. (Or you could do one story every Sunday together and finish the book in about a year!)
Perhaps one of my favorite finds is a list in the back of the book of the Feasts and Fasts of the Liturgical Year.
If you are looking for a gift for a young person in your life this Christmas or to add to your family’s library of Bible materials, you can find this book and learn more about this wonderful family business here on their website, as well as here on Amazon.
You have four chances to win Bible Stories for Children by clicking here!
(This giveaway is open until 11:59 pm on Monday, December 10. I will let the automatic winner generator select a winner on the 11th. I will contact the winner via e-mail, as well as announce it here, on my Facebook page, and on my Instagram page.)
Also, there is an Immaculate Conception Rosary giveaway open on the blog here as well!

By the way, it’s hard to choose one book, but I’d probably pick this book or the St. Alphonsus Moral Theology book from Mediatrix Press.
