Bulletproof “Coffee” Milk Drink {Toddler Approved}

+J.M.J.+

I am a huge fan of bulletproof coffee ever since we spent our week eating only from the new Wellness Mama cookbook! The coffee blended with coconut oil and grass-fed butter is so smooth, loaded with healthy fats and just plain delicious. This process of blending the fats with the coffee also allows for a more gradual absorption of the caffeine for a gentle energy boost that lasts longer, without the jitters!

My toddler wanted to have a special hot drink from the blender sometimes when she saw me enjoying mine. I eventually came up with her own special milk drink.

This would be a great replacement for you if you’re looking for something warm and comforting to drink without the caffeine. It would make a great hot chocolate alternative during the winter, too!

2 tsp. collagen peptides. (I get mine here)
1/2 tsp. real vanilla
1/2 tsp. real maple syrup

Warm the milk on the stovetop over medium heat; this won’t take long.

Thats it! This is an incredibly nutritious treat, loaded with healthy fats, protein, and flavor. And unlike most drinks marketed for toddlers, it doesn’t have a bunch of unnecessary refined sugar, high fructose corn syrup, colorings, or preservatives.

Also, about the dishes – the saucepan and the blender rinse out very easily after this, so it isn’t as intimidating as it may seem to clean up.

Ingredient Notes

I want to add a few notes on some of the ingredients in case any of these are new to you.

I personally would always use raw milk in my home, although I am unable to access it where I live right now. Instead, I get minimally pasteurized, non-homogenized milk which can be found at any health food store. By not pasteurizing it more than what is minimally needed for legality in my state, many beneficial enzymes are alive in the milk. This is much superior than regular milk which is harder to digest and misses out on these benefits. With a far richer, creamier taste, you’ll be sold from the first sip!

The powder collagen peptides are incredibly helpful for gut health, hair, skin, nails, and joints. Plus, they are a great source of protein, and are flavorless! You can read more about the benefits of collagen peptides and real gelatin here.

Finally, when it comes to your vanilla and maple syrup read. your. labels. These are two foods that have a particularly high rate of deception in many brands. Imitation maple syrups full of high fructose corn syrup, linked-to-cancer Splenda, and tons of refined sugar taste terrible and are awful for our bodies. And if it isn’t real vanilla, you’re likely flavoring with a nasty cocktail of anything from derivatives of wood pulp and petroleum, to an oil derived from the glands of a beaver. Yummy.

  1. This is a great idea, and thanks so much for your brand recommendations. I was paying DOUBLE for my other brand of collagen! 😰 So excited for a better deal!
